Certain fragrances in the atmosphere can influence the mood or someone's thinking and aid relaxation, for example according to a study conducted by the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation of Chicago, volunteers performed puzzle-solving tasks 17% faster when exposed to a floral scent. In similar research The Good Housekeeping Institute found that proof-readers do much better when peppermint or lavender scents are piped into their atmosphere. A Japanese company discovered that lavender and jasmine soothed data entry operators, while lemon increased production by up to 54%.
The sense of smell has a powerful effect on human thought and behaviour. A leading American neurologist explains "of all the senses, smell has the greatest impact on human emotions" Smell is the only sense which bypasses mental judgement and interpretation and goes straight to the centre of emotions, this makes smell the most effective to influence emotion and in turn productivity etc.
In today's stressful world and modern day environments a fragrant enhancement to the atmosphere is a welcome addition to everyday life. However, existing methods of dispersing fragrance into the atmosphere are old fashioned and inefficient. The Fragrance Systems range of equipment has been designed to fulfil the needs of an ever expanding market.
